 F. Preconditions
 S 865-496
 (1)  
These conditions are necessary for this task:

 (a)  
Fuel-Feed System serviceable.

 (b)  
A specific fuel quantity is necessary for this task (AMM 12-11-01/301 and AMM 28-26-00/201).


 NOTE: The main fuel tanks must contain enough fuel to operate
____
 the boost pumps.

 (c)  
Electrical Power On (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 (d)  
Fuel Line in the Strut Area installed (AMM 28-22-07/401).

 (e)  
Fuel System Card File serviceable (AMM 28-22-16/401).

 (f)  
Integrated Display System (IDS) serviceable (AMM 31-61-00/501).

 (g)  
CDU installed (AMM 34-61-02/401).

 (h)  
Engines No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 serviceable (AMM 71-00-00/501).

Prepare for Removal

 (1)  
Supply the electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Make sure the fuel tanks contain these fuel quantities:

 (a)  
The center wing tank and the No. 2 and 3 reserve tank can contain some quantity of fuel.

 (b)  
The inboard and outboard main tanks each contain a minimum of 2500 lbs (1200 kgs) of fuel (enough fuel to operate the fuel boost pumps).

 (3)  If the fuel quantity is not sufficient, refuel the tank(s)
 (AMM 12-11-01/301), or move fuel from a different tank
 (AMM 28-26-00/201) if it is necessary.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (4)
Retract and deactivate the leading edge flaps (AMM 27-81-00/201).

Make sure the FUEL CONTROL switches, found on the engine start module, are in the CUTOFF position.

 (a)
Attach DO-NOT-OPERATE tags to the FUEL CONTROL switches.

Push the STAT button on the EICAS display select panel.

 (a)  
Make sure the status page appears on the auxiliary EICAS.

 (b)  
Make sure the applicable FUEL SPAR VLV (1, 2, 3, or 4) or FUEL CUTOFF ENG (1, 2, 3, or 4) message(s) are not shown.

 (b)  
On the DC power distribution panel, P180:
