Do these steps to install the drain plugs on the engine fuel pumps (View C).
(a)
Go out to the applicable engine.
(b)
Put a new O-ring lubricated with petrolatum on the drain plug.
(c)
Install the drain plug on the engine fuel boost pump.
(d)
Tighten the drain plug to 45-55 pound-inches
(5.1-6.2 Newton-meters).
(e)
Install the lockwire on the drain plug.

(1) Refuel the fuel tanks with the necessary fuel quantity to do the engine motoring procedure (AMM 71-00-00/201).

(2) Do this task, "No. 2 - Engine Motoring" (AMM 71-00-00/501).
NOTE: The dry engine motoring test puts the fuel condition
____ lever in the run position (with the applicable FUEL CONT VALVE ENG circuit breaker in the open position). This will pressurize the fuel line to the engine fuel pump.

1. Fuel Pumps - Insulation Resistance Check

A. General
(1)
This task is for digital task card requirements.
(2)
This task does an insulation resistance check of these fuel system pumps:
(a)
Boost pumps for the main tanks (8 pump locations)
(b)
Override/jettison pumps for the center and inboard main tanks (6 pump locations)
(3)
The insulation resistance checks can be done with the fuel pumps installed on the airplane or removed from the airplane. If the fuel pump is removed from the airplane, you must do the insulation resistance check within 2 hours.
(4)
When you use the QuadTech Type 1864 megohmmeter, it is recommended that the megohmmeter be insulated from any metal work stands. It is also recommended that protective clothing (rubber gloves, insulated shoes, etc.) be worn when you make these measurements. The megohmmeter should be plugged into a grounded receptacle to reduce the possibility of electrical shock.

Insulation resistance data sheets are provided (Fig. 602, 603 and 604). Use the provided data sheets or an equivalent. It is not necessary to send the data sheets to Boeing.
