If a wing surge tank float switch closes due to fuel overflow into the wing surge tank, the fueling shutoff relay energizes. Refueling power signal is removed from the fuel quantity processor unit, causing the processor unit to remove power from all refuel valves. When the fuel drains from the surge tank, its float switch opens. However, the fueling shutoff relay remains energized, and the valves remain closed, until the OVERFILL RESET switch on the refuel control panel is depressed.

When all tanks are full or preselected quantity is reached,
refueling operation is complete.
B.
Control
(1)
Put the airplane in 0.5 (| 2.0) degrees nose-down and 0.0 (| 2.0) degrees roll (wings level) attitude, if it is not already done.
(2)
Remove the refuel receptacle caps.

Make sure the defuel lever is correctly positioned in the recess of the refuel receptacle adapter.
(4)
Connect the refuel nozzles to refuel receptacles.
(5)
Open manual shutoff valves at fueling receptacles.
(6)
Check that the following circuit breakers are closed:
(a)
On the main power distribution panel, P6:
1) 6D5, FUEL QTY 1
2) 6D6, FUEL QTY 2
(b)
On the overhead circuit breaker panel, P7:
(c)
On the DC power distribution panel, P180:
1) 180M8, FUELING VALVE 2
2) 180M9, FUELING PWR - HOT BAT
3) 180C25, FUELING LTS PANEL
4) 180C26, FUELING LTS RECP
(d)
On the left power distribution center, P414:
1) 414F17, FUELING VALVE
2) 414F22, FUELING PWR
(e)
On the right power distribution center, P415:
1) 415M14, FUEL OVERFILL CONT

Put the POWER switch on the refuel control panel in the NORM or BATT position as necessary by the available power source.
(8)
Press TEST GAGES switch on fueling control panel. Observe that all segments of indicator displays illuminate. Release switch. Observe that indicators return to normal operation.
NOTE: If indicator is inoperative, fuel quantity in tank can be

monitored using the fuel measuring sticks.
(9)
Press-to-test all refuel valve position lights. Observe that all lights illuminate when pressed.
(10)
If refueling all tanks to capacity (Auto Shutoff Mode), proceed as follows:
(a)
Set all refuel valve switches to OPEN. Observe that refuel valve position indicator lights illuminate. Refueling operation will begin.
NOTE: If the position indicator light for a reserve tank fails
____ to illuminate (valve remains closed), the tank must be refueled using the Inop Valve Mode. If one light for a main tank or center wing tank fails to illuminate, Auto Shutoff Mode may be used but time required for refueling will be increased.
(b) When refuel valve position indicator lights extinguish, set the refuel valve control switches to CLOSED.

(c) Shut off fuel flow at fueling truck.
NOTE: Fueling manifold will remain pressurized for
____ approximately 1.5 hours after fuel flow is shut off at truck. The fueling manifold may be depressurized more rapidly by setting a refuel valve switch, for any tank that is not full to capacity, to the OPEN position. Manifold pressure will be relieved into selected tank.

If refueling tanks to less than capacity (Preselect Mode), proceed as follows:
(a)
Set thumbwheels to desired quantity to be onboard when refueling operation is complete.
