 (2)  Do the procedure that follows to check the hydraulic fluid level in the shock strut.
 C. Procedure
NOTE: You can do a check of the fluid level of the shock strut if you
____ measure the pressure and extension of the strut at two different airplane weights. Compare these measurements with the servicing band (curve) of the shock strut.
 S 783-002
 (1)  Measure the pressure and the extension of the strut with no load on the airplane (the usual landing weight).
 (a)
Compare the pressure and extention to the servicing band on the servicing chart.

 (b)
If it is necessary, inflate or deflate the strut to shift the point into the chart band.

 S 783-003
 (2)  Measure the pressure and the extension of the strut with a load on the airplane (the usual dispatch weight).
NOTE: The weight of the airplane must be different from the
____ previous step by a minimum of 30,000 pounds. The ambient temperatures at time of measurements are taken should be within 20°F when you do this step.
 (a)  Compare the second pressure and extension with the servicing band on the servicing chart:

 (b)  If the point falls on the servicing band, the fluid level is in the correct operating range. 1) If the point falls to the left of the servicing band, the
 fluid level is low.
 a) Add fluid (refer to paragraphs 2 or 3).
 b) If it is necessary to add one quart or more to fill the
strut, find the source of the leakage and repair it. 2) If the point falls to right of the servicing band, fluid level is high.
NOTE: Too much (high) fluid level is caused by a prior
____
 incorrect servicing procedure.

 a) Remove the fluid (refer to paragraph 2 or 3).

NOSE LANDING GEAR SHOCK STRUT - SERVICING
_________________________________________
 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. The first task does the servicing of the shock strut for the nose landing gear. The second task does a check of the fluid level for the shock strut of the nose landing gear.
 TASK 12-15-41-603-001
 2.  Nose Landing Gear Shock Strut Servicing (Fig. 301)
_______________________________________
 A.  General
 (1)  This task changes the hydraulic fluid in the nose gear shock strut. This task also gives you the option to service the shock strut with the airplane lifted on jacks.
