CAUTION: YOU MUST LUBRICATE ALL THE BEARINGS AND JOINTS IN THE AREA
_______ YOU CLEANED. THE LUBRICANT WILL REMOVE THE UNWANTED FLUIDS WHICH COULD FREEZE OR CAUSE CORROSION TO THE BEARING OR JOINT. IF YOU DO NOT LUBRICATE THE BEARINGS AND JOINTS, DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
 (h)  Lubricate all bearings and joints in the cleaned area (Ref Chapter 12).

CAUTION: DO NOT USE WATER OR CLEANERS THAT CONTAIN FLAMMABLE
_______ SOLVENTS TO CLEAN WARM COMPONENTS. WARM COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE THE FLAMMABLE SOLVENTS TO BURN.
 (b)  Use the MIL-T-81533A degreasing fluid to clean the hydraulic fluid from warm components.

 (6)  Clean with Foam
NOTE: Use foam when it is necessary that the cleaner will stay
____
on the surface for 15 minutes.

 (a)  Fill the tank of the foam generator. Use a liquid that contains one part cleaner (from Table 201 or Oakite 74L) and 10 to 20 parts of water.
NOTE: If you do not have a foam generator, mix the liquid
____
 quickly to make foam.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE HIGH-PRESSURE SPRAY EQUIPMENT TO CLEAN
_______ MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, OR HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS. LIQUIDS THAT GET INTO THESE AREAS CAN CAUSE CORROSION, FREEZE DURING AIRPLANE FLIGHT, OR REMOVE NECESSARY LUBRICANTS.
CAUTION: KEEP THE NOZZLE OF THE SPRAY EQUIPMENT MORE THAN 12 INCHES
_______ AWAY FROM THE SURFACE OF THE AIRPLANE. THE SPRAY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE.
 (b)
Apply water to the area you will clean.

 (c)
Apply a heavy layer of foam cleaner.

 (d)
Let the cleaner soak for 5 to 15 minutes.

NOTE: Apply the cleaner again if it is necessary to keep the
____
 surface wet.

 (e)  Rub the surface with a brush to remove the unwanted material.
CAUTION: YOU MUST FLUSH THE SURFACE SUFFICIENTLY TO REMOVE ALL OF
_______ THE CLEANER. THE CLEANER CAN CAUSE CORROSION IF YOU DO NOT FULLY REMOVE IT FROM THE AIRPLANE SURFACE.
 (f)
Flush the surface with clean, warm water (160°F maximum).

 (g)
Dry the wet surface with air or towels.

 3. Clean the Acoustic Surfaces of the Thrust Reverser.
_____________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  Special attention should be given to prevent water and cleaning agents from entering the honeycomb cells of the acoustic panels. Follow the steps below to minimize the ingestion of cleaning solutions and water into the acoustic panels.
CAUTION: WATER AND CLEANING AGENTS TRAPPED INSIDE THE PANEL WILL
_______ LEAD TO CORROSION OF THE ALUMINUM HONEYCOMB CORE.
 (a)
Wipe cleaning solutions on with a clean cloth, damp, but not saturated, with cleaning solution.

 (b)
Wipe with a clean cloth, damp with water, to remove all residues.

 (c)
Wipe using a clean dry cloth to remove all moisture.

 (2)  Use ONLY cleaning agents certified to the requirements of Document D6-17487, Evaluation of Airplane Maintenance Materials, when cleaning acoustic panels.
CAUTION: DO NOT SUBJECT AREAS CONTAINING PERFORATED SKINS TO HIGH
_______ PRESSURE SPRAYING, OR SUBMERGE IN SOLVENTS OR WATER.
 (3)
If pressure washing is required for components around acoustic panels, the acoustic portion of the nacelle should be covered to prevent ingestion of the cleaning solutions.

 (4)
Do not vapor degrease Graphite/Aramid epoxy structures with chlorinated cleaning agents such as Methylene Chloride, Trichloroethylene, and Trichloroethane. Chlorinated cleaning agents will cause damage to Graphite/Aramid epoxy structures.
