G. Procedure - Remove the Oxygen Cylinder

CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE VALVE MORE THAN THE GIVEN TORQUE.

(1) Close the shutoff valve on the crew oxygen cylinder and tighten with your hand.
NOTE: When you tighten the valve with your hand, this is
____ the equivalent to a maximum torque of 25 pound-inches.

Slowly loosen the coupling nut of the high pressure cylinder from the oxygen cylinder port to release the pressure.

Disconnect the coupling nut of the high pressure cylinder.

WARNING: YOU MUST SEAL ALL THE CONNECTIONS WITH A CLEAN CAP TO
_______ PREVENT CONTAMINATION. YOU MUST USE METAL CAPS WHEN THE CONNECTOR THREADS ENGAGE THE CAP. YOU MUST CLEAN ALL CAPS THAT YOU USE FOR THE OXYGEN SYSTEM BEFORE YOU INSTALL THEM. REFER TO THE OVERHAUL MANUAL FOR THE PROCEDURES TO CLEAN THE OXYGEN SYSTEM COMPONENTS. CONTAMINATION IN THE OXYGEN SYSTEM CAN CAUSE A FIRE OR AN EXPLOSION AND CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(5)
Release the clamps and remove the cylinder assembly.
(6)
Use caps to seal the connections on the cylinder.

If you do not install a replacement cylinder immediately, install caps on the aircraft line connections.

(8) For cylinders with metal seats in the shutoff valve, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Install the cap on the inlet/outlet line.
(b)
The cap is attached to the valve with a chain.
(c)
Tighten the cap to a torque of 350 - 400 pound-inches.
H. Procedure - Install the Crew Oxygen Cylinder

(1) Make sure it has not been more than three years since the oxygen cylinder had its last hydrostatic test.
NOTE: The last hydrostatic test date will be stamped on the neck

of the oxygen cylinder.

Make sure the cylinder is in serviceable condition.

If installed, remove the cap on the airplane connection.
(a) Examine the connection fittings and make sure they are clean and free of contamination.

WARNING: YOU MUST OPEN THE PRESSURE CAP SLOWLY, AND BLEED OFF THE
_______ REMAINING PRESSURE. IF YOU REMOVE THE CAP TOO QUICKLY THE CAP CAN BLOW OFF WITH A LARGE FORCE. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(4) Remove all the lockwire or cotter pins that hold the cap on the oxygen cylinder.
