 (5)  Inflate the shock strut.
 CAUTION: DO NOT ALLOW HOSE TO BE PUT IN BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE
_______ FLUID IN THE CONTAINER WHEN YOU EXTEND THE SHOCK STRUT. THE OVERFLOW FLUID WILL BE DRAWN BACK INTO THE SHOCK STRUT.
 (a)  
Slowly lower the axle jack until the shock strut is extended and remove the axle jack.

 (b)  
Lower the airplane to compress the shock strut fully.

 (c)  
Remove all the jacks.

 (d)  
Disconnect the service cart and remove the hose from the top of the shock strut.

 (e)  
Close the air valve at the top of the shock strut.

 (f)  
Inflate the shock strut with dry air or nitrogen to agree to the service chart (Fig. 302).

 (6)  Install the dust cap and install lockwire to the air valve.

 (8)  Put the airplane to its normal operation.

 (9)  After 5 to 10 landings, do the steps that follow:
 (a)  Examine the shock strut pressure and X dimension.
 1)  If it is necessary, inflate the shock strut.
 (b)  Service the shock strut with air or nitrogen (Fig. 302).
 NOTE:____ The wide tolerance "Operation Band" does not eliminate
 the requirement for two separate charging operations to
 the "Servicing Band".

 (10) Inflate the Shock Strut (Alternate Procedure).
 (a)  
Do the steps to prepare for the servicing of the shock strut.

 (b)  
Make sure the main landing gear shock struts are fully extended by checking the "X" dimension as shown in the servicing chart on Fig. 302.

 WARNING:_______DO NOT REMOVE THE VALVE BODY. INTERNAL PRESSURE CAN BLOW THE BODY OUT WHICH CAN CAUSES POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS.

 (c)  
Remove the dust cap from the air valve at the top of the shock strut.

 (d)  
Install the shock strut inflation tool.

 (e)  
Slowly loosen the air valve nut a maximum of two turns.

 (f)  
Inflate the shock strut with dry air or nitrogen until the pressure is 250 +/- 10 psi.

 (g)  
Tighten the swivel nut to 5 - 7 pound feet to close the air valve.

 (h)  
Remove the shock strut inflation tool.

 (i)  Install the dust cap and install lockwire to the air valve.

 Lower the airplane and remove the jacks (AMM 07-11-11/201).

 4. Check Fluid Level by Pressure/Extension Method

 A. General
 CAUTION: DO NOT ADD SMALL QUANTITIES OF HYDRAULIC FLUID WITHOUT LUBRIZOL
_______ MANY TIMES. IF THERE IS NOT A SUFFICIENT QUANTITY OF LUBRIZOL IN THE FLUID, DAMAGE TO THE SHOCK STRUT CAN OCCUR.
 (1)  
You can add lubricant to the shock strut when servicing. As an alternate method, a fully formulated fluid with a lubricant premixed is available. For regular servicing where relatively small amounts of fluid is necessary, it is acceptable to use hydraulic oil without added lubricant to fill the shock struts.
