Tighten the plug to a torque of 30-40 pound-inches.

Install a lockwire.

Tighten the plug to a torque of 75-100 pound-inches.
(b)
Install a lockwire.

4. Fill the CSD with Oil (Fig. 301)

A. General
(1)
The CSD sight glass has different ranges for the oil level on the left and right engines. This is because the left and right engines are at different angles.
(2)
The oil level shown on the sight glass of a disconnected CSD can show more oil than there is. Expanded air can push the oil from the oil cooler into the CSD. To get an accurate indication of the oil level, fill the CSD and look at the sight glass again.
(3)
Leakage of the seal in the CSD will let oil flow from the CSD to the spline cavity. A defective input shaft seal will cause these indications:
(a)
The oil level in the CSD will decrease.
(b)
The oil level in the spline cavity will increase.

F. Add Oil to the CSD

CAUTION:_______PUT ONLY APPROVED OILS INTO THE GENERATOR DRIVE. OILS THAT ARE NOT APPROVED CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE GENERATOR DRIVE.
DO NOT MIX DIFFERENT TYPES OR BRAND NAMES OF OILS. SOME OILS WILL CHEMICALLY CHANGE WHEN YOU MIX THEM. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE GENERATOR DRIVE.
DO NOT LET ALKALINE CLEANING FLUIDS OR HYDRAULIC FLUID TOUCH THE GENERATOR DRIVE OIL. VERY SMALL QUANTITIES OF THESE FLUIDS CAN CAUSE THE OIL TO CHEMICALLY CHANGE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE GENERATOR DRIVE.
(1) Make sure that you have the correct oil for the CSD.
NOTE: If you put an oil that is not approved into the CSD,
____ drain the oil. Then flush the CSD oil system with an approved oil.
To change between approved types of oil, drain all of the
remaining oil before you add the new oil.
