To open the shutoff valves on the oxygen cylinders, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Open the shutoff valve on the crew oxygen cylinder slowly and fully.
(b)
Do not tighten the valve more than 25 inch-pounds (Hand tighten).
(c)
Close the valve one-fourth of a turn.
(d)
When you put the system back to its initial condition, you must use lockwire to keep the valve in this position.
WARNING:_______ YOU MUST OPEN THE VALVES SLOWLY OR HIGH TEMPERATURES CAN
OCCUR. AS A RESULT OF HIGH OXYGEN TEMPERATURES, A FIRE OR
EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR, AND THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND
CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:_______ YOU MUST NOT TIGHTEN THE VALVE MORE THAN THE GIVEN TORQUE.
DAMAGE TO THE VALVE CAN OCCUR.
NOTE: Use the 0.020 inch diameter copper lockwire (AMM
____ 20-10-44/401).
