You use the drain lines and a drain valve to find leakage in the APU shroud system. If you find fuel in the drained fluid, it shows that there is a leak in one of these locations:

Drain the APU Fuel Line Shroud Drain System (Fig. 301)

Put the container below the drain valve.

Open the drain valve and permit the collected fluid to drain into the container.

Close the drain valve.

Examine the fluid that you drained to see if there is fuel in it.
(a) If you find some fuel, tighten the couplings on the APU fuel line or replace APU fuel line, if it is necessary (AMM 28-22-81/401).
Drain the Sumps for the No. 1 Tank and the No. 2 Tank (Fig. 302)

(1) Put the top end of the tool against the bottom side of the poppet on the sump drain valve.
(a) Push the poppet up until fuel flows into the container.

(2)
Drain each sump until the fuel that flows into the container has no water.

(3)
Remove the tool from the sump and permit the valve to close.

(4)
Do a visual inspection of the fuel in the container.
(a) Make sure the fuel is free from contamination.
NOTE: The fuel sample should be clear and bright.

(b) If you see water in the fuel, continue to sump the tank until the remove all of the water.
