Bucket - to hold up to 2 gallons of used oilConsumable Materials

 (1)  
D00068 Oil - MIL-L-23699, MIL-L-7808, or any oil that agrees with the specifications of CFM56-3 SB79-001.


 NOTE: Refer to the marker on the CSD to find the oil that is in the
____
 spline cavity.

Add Oil to the Spline Cavity
 S 493-053-001
 (1)  
Set the bucket below the accessory gearbox to catch the oil (if you did not do this before).

 S 033-054-001

 (2)  
Remove the cap from the drain fitting for the spline cavity on the accessory gearbox (if you did not do this before).


 NOTE: Use a second wrench to maintain the drain fitting during the
____
 removal of the cap.

 (3)  
Remove the cap from the pressure-fill valve for the spline cavity on the CSD.

 S 493-056-001

 (4)  
Connect the coupling to the pressure-fill valve for the spline cavity.

 (5)  
Set the pressure from the service cart to 25-40 psig.

 (6)  
Fill the spline cavity until the oil starts to drain from the drain fitting on the accessory gearbox.

 (a)  Let the oil drain until it stops.

 (7)  Disconnect the coupling from the pressure-fill valve for the spline
 cavity.
 S 433-060-001
 (8)  Install the cap on the pressure-fill valve for the spline cavity on
 the CSD.
 (a)  Tighten the cap to a torque of 30-50 pound-inches.
 (b)  Install a lockwire on the cap.
 S 433-061-001
 (9)  Install the cap on the drain fitting for the spline cavity on the
 accessory gearbox.
 NOTE:____ Use a second wrench to maintain the drain fitting during the
 installation of the cap.
 (a)  Tighten the cap to a torque of 270-301 pound-inches.
 (b)  Install a lockwire.
 S 093-062-001

 (10) Remove the bucket.
 (a) Discard the oil from the bucket.
 S 163-063-001 CAUTION: IMMEDIATELY REMOVE ALL OF THE OIL THAT FALLS ON THE ENGINE.
_______ THE OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PAINT AND THE RUBBER COMPONENTS ON THE ENGINE.

 Clean the engine parts that have oil on them. S 413-064-001
