 TRAILING EDGE FLAP SYSTEM LUBRICATION - SERVICING

 1.  General_______
 A.  There are five tasks in this procedure: A task to lubricate the drive system for the trailing edge flaps. A task to lubricate the trailing edge flaps. A task to lubricate the aftflap drive mechanism for the inboard flaps A task to change the fluid in the #3 and #6 transmission. A task to change the fluid in the #1, #2, #4, #5, #7 and #8 transmission.

 (4)  Lubricate the ballscrew nut reservoirs for the trailing edge flaps (Fig. 304).
 (a)  For Beaver ballscrews, do the steps that follow to lubricate the ballscrew nut:
 CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PUSH IN THE BALL OF THE
_______ LUBRICATION FITTING. IF THE BALL OF THE LUBRICATION FITTING OR THE SEAT THAT THE BALL CONTACTS IS DAMAGED, THIS CAN CAUSE LEAKAGE OF THE LUBRICATION FITTING.
 DO NOT USE A SHARP, POINTED OBJECT TO PUSH IN THE BALL OF THE LUBRICATION FITTINGS THAT HAVE AN ELASTOMER BALL. A SHARP POINTED OBJECT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BALL AND CAUSE LEAKAGE OF THE LUBRICATION FITTING.
 1)  Push in and hold the ball of the lubrication fitting which is located on the top side of the ballscrew nut reservoir.
 NOTE: If available, use the C12004-6 tool to push in
____ and hold the ball of the lubrication fitting. If the C12004-6 tool is not available, use a smooth, blunt object to push in and hold the ball of the lubrication fitting.
 When you push in the ball of the lubrication fitting, the fitting is open. It is necessary to hold the lubrication fitting open while the oil reservoir is filled. This permits the air to bleed out of the oil reservoir as the reservoir fills and permits the oil reservoir to completely fill with oil.
 Ballscrews No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 can have two or four lubrication fittings (two on the top side of the oil reservoir and two on the bottom side of the oil reservoir). On the ballscrews that have four lubrication fittings, use the lubrication fitting at the forward end of the top side of the oil reservoir to bleed the reservoir.

 2)  Use the lubrication fitting on the bottom side of the oil reservoir to fill the oil reservoir with oil.
