Remove the access panel at the location of the hook pin that you want to replace.

Use a felt tip pen or spray paint to mark the exact position of the inside and outside bearing housings (1 and 2).
NOTE: This is to make sure that the bearing housings can be
____ installed in exactly the same position that they originally were.

Use a hexagon wrench to stop the pin from turning and remove the nut (3) and washer (4) from the back of the pin (5).

Remove the nuts (6) and washers (7) from the bolts (8) which hold the inside bearing housing to the door cutout frame (9).

Remove the inside bearing housing and the hook pin. Remove the spacer washers (10) and washer (11) from the pin.
NOTE:____Record the number of spacer washers which are removed. This will make it easier when you install the new hook pin.

C. Procedure

(1) Assemble the washer (11) and the same number of spacer washers (10) that were previously removed, onto the hook pin (5).
NOTE: If a -1 hook pin was removed and a -2 pin is being installed,
____ additional spacer washers (0.30 inch thickness) must be assembled onto the pin to make up for the shorter pin body length.

Install the new hook pin (5) into the inside bearing housing (1) and assemble the washer (4) and nut (3) onto the hook pin.

Use a hexagon wrench to hold the pin and tighten the nut to 95 - 110 inch-pounds.

Position the inside bearing housing (1) on the inside of the structure frame (9) in exactly the same position that it was before removal.
NOTE: The outside bearing housing must also be installed in exactly
____ the same position that it was before removal.

Install the bolts (8) through the outside and inside bearing housings, assemble the washers (7) and nuts (6) onto the bolts and tighten the nuts to 90 - 110 inch pounds.

Measure the length of the hook pin from the face of the bearing housing to the end of the hook pin as shown (Fig. 402).
NOTE: After a pin length has been initially set, the only pin that
____ may require adjustment is the aft cargo door, forward pin.

(7) Check that the clearance between the end of the hook pin and the pull-in hook is within the required limits (AMM 52-34-00/501).
