E. The door is opened by depressing the trigger of each latch which releases the latch bolt allowing the door to open. The door is then rotated open approximately 90 degrees to actuate hinge detents. To close door, approximately 10 pound-inches of torque is applied about the hinge pin to release hinge detents, door is rotated closed, and latch bolts depressed to engage latch triggers.
4. APU Battery Access Door (Fig. 4)_______________________
A. The APU battery access door is located on the lower centerline of the fuselage with its center at approximate station 2648, and is approximately 20 by 20 inches in size. The door is constructed of clad aluminum material.
B. Attachment of the door is by a piano hinge on the left side and a latch on each end of the right side. A stay brace holds the door in the full open position.
C. The two latches on the right edge of the door are released by depressing the triggers. The door is rotated downward and to the left until detent on stay brace is released. To close door, detent is depressed, door is rotated closed, and each latch is closed using 20 to 30 pounds of pressure.
5. Stabilizer Jackscrew Access Door (Fig. 5)________________________________
A. The stabilizer jackscrew access door allows access to the stabilizer jackscrew and also serves as a blowout (pressure relief) door in the event of a ruptured APU duct. The door is located between fuselage stations 2412 and 2436 and is slightlyto the right of the bottom center of the fuselage. Construction is of clad aluminum with stiffening ribs and beaded stiffeners.
CAUTION:_______THE LATCH IS PRESET TO PROVIDE BLOWOUT PROTECTION. ANY ADJUSTMENT WILL CAUSE THE DOOR TO BLOWOUT AT OTHER THAN DESIGN PRESSURE.
B. Attachment is by two hinges at the forward end and two roller type latches at the aft end.
C. Operation of the stabilizer jackscrew access door is either manual or by a pressure differential. Manually the door can be opened from either inside or outside the airplane. A stay brace holds the door in open position when the door is opened far enough for the stay brace detents to lock.
