EXTERIOR SERVICE DOORS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
__________________________________________________
General (Fig. 1)
_______
A. Service doors are the detachable panels and hinged doors which are large enough to permit access into various compartments and areas of the airplane to accomplish necessary servicing and maintenance.
B. Construction is of stiffened clad aluminum except the potable water
service doors which are of fiberglass honeycomb sandwich construction.External Power Receptacle Door (Fig. 2)
______________________________
A. The external power receptacle door is located on the forward right side of the fuselage, centered on fuselage station 411.26 and is immediately aft of the right aft nose gear door. It is approximately 6.6 by 9.0 inches. Attachment is by two hinges at the forward end and one latch at the aft end of each side. Hinges have a detent which will hold the door in open position until manually closed.
B. The door is opened and closed as follows: The triggers of each latch are depressed, releasing the latch bolts, allowing the door to open. The door is then rotated fully open to approximately 90 degrees to actuate the hinge detents. Approximately 10 pound-inches of torque applied about the hinge pins releases the detents. The door is then rotated closed and the latch bolts depressed to engage the latch trigger.
Potable Water Service Panel Access Doors (Fig. 3)
________________________________________
A. There is one potable water service panel access door. The forward potable water service panel access door is located between fuselage stations 960 and 985 and slightly to the right of centerline of the lower fairing. Approximate size of the forward door is 24 by 15 inches.
B. Attachment of the door is by two hinges at the forward end, two latches at the aft end, and two latches on each side of the forward door . The hinges have a detent that will hold the door open until manually closed.
C. The door is made of fiberglass construction with flame-sprayed aluminum coating on the exterior surface.
D. A magnetic switch, attached to the forward end of the forward door, provides an interlock to prevent the water system pressurization compressor from operating when the door is in the open position (Detail A, Fig. 3). A bracket with attaching angles attached to the door serves as a safety device which will not allow the door to be closed if the valve handle is not in the closed position.
