Procedure

(1)
Install the snubber as follows (Fig. 401):
(a)
Manually extend the snubber to align it with the mounting brackets on the door and fuselage.
(b)
Apply grease to the bushings and bolts.
(c)
Install the bolt, washer, and nut through the mounting bracket on the fuselage and top end of the snubber.
(d)
Install the lockwire.
(e)
Install the bolt, washer, and nut through the mounting bracket on the door hinge and the lower end of snubber.
(2)
Do a snubber test (Ref 52-36-05/501).

A. This procedure contains a task that is a test of the snubber on the bulk cargo door.

Pin - Safety, 0.25-inch diameter, 4.0-inch length

(1)
Manually operate the door.
(2)
Make sure the snubber holds the door.
(3)
Close and latch the door.
(4)
See that the snubber has no leaks.

If hydraulic fluid falls off the snubber in drops, replace the snubber (Ref 52-36-05/401).

(6) Put a DO-NOT-OPERATE sign on the external handle of the door.
S 495-037 WARNING: DO NOT TRY TO HOLD THE BALANCE MECHANISM CABLE WITH BLOCKS AND
_______ CLAMPS. BLOCKS AND CLAMPS CAN LET THE CABLE MOVE. IF THE CABLE MOVES QUICKLY, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
(7) Put the safety pin through the spring tube to hold the springs in position (Fig. 501).
