 B.  The access door is constructed of clad aluminum material. It is hinged on one side and latched on the opposite side by a sliding pin. The two hinge arms extend from door structure to engage hinge fittings, one on the forward face of sta 820 frame and one on the aft face of station 800 frame. These hinges are designed to allow forward and aft, inward and outward adjustment for proper door alignment. A continuous seal around the periphery of the door prevents loss of cabin air when the airplane is in flight. Pressurization loads on the door are transmitted to the fuselage by two stop fittings on both the forward and aft edges of the door, which bear against pads attached to the fuselage structure surrounding the door. The sliding pin latch activates the door warning system.

 C.  The door latching mechanism (Section A-A, Fig. 1) consists of an operating shaft connected to a pin latch which protrudes through the edge of the door to engage with a latch keeper on the adjacent structure. The operating shaft has an outside handle recessed flush with the exterior skin. Should the airplane interior be pressurized with the door in the closed position and accidentally unlatched, the four stop fittings contact the structural stops and prevent further movement of the door. Access openings on the door inner surface provide entry to the door internal mechanism.
