Remove the insulation retaining studs and lift the insulation to get access to the attachment bolts on the hinge arms.

Install the safety pin or cable restraining tool on the spring tube to hold the balance mechanism cable in its position.

Open the door lightly to release the cable tension.

Disconnect the balance mechanism cable from the door (Ref 52-36-02/401).

Close the door.

Remove the door hinge as follows (View A-A, Fig. 401):
(a)
Remove the four bolts that attach the hinge to the door.
(b)
On the forward hinge, remove the three bolts that attach the snubber to the hinge.
(c)
Remove the bolt that attaches the hinge to the fuselage (View B-B, Fig. 401).
(d)
Remove the door hinge.

Attach the hinge to the fuselage with the bolt, nut, and two washers (View B-B, Fig. 401).

Tighten the nut until there is no play between the bolt and the fitting.
