4. Access Door Insulation Installation.___________________________________(Fig. 403)
A. Procedure

(1)
If the door insulation was removed for lubrication (AMM 12-21-04/301), follow these steps:
(a)
Remove all adhesive and insulation residue with solvent.
(b)
Prefit the insulation (PVC flexible foam) to the pan and internal surface of the access door (Fig. 403).
(c)
Mix the BMS5-30 adhesive (Type 48) throughly before using.
NOTE: Do not use the adhesive that has thickened or gelled.

(d)
Use the BMS5-30 adhesive within 4 hours.
CAUTION:_______DO NOT GET THE ADHESIVE IN THE LIGHTING HOLES. DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL DOOR COMPONENTS MAY RESULT.
(e)
Apply a medium to heavy coat of adhesive with a brush, or three or four conecutive spray coats to the certain area pattern of the door (pan and internal surface) (Fig. 403).
(f)
Let the last coat of the adhesive dry until it is tacky, but will not transfer when lightly touched.
(g)
Let the adhesive dry for at least 10 to 20 minutes at 70 degrees F.
(h)
Apply the insulation to the pan and internal surface of the door while the adhesive is still tacky. Apply enough pressure to make sure of contact.
(i)
Make sure that no air is trapped between the insulation and the surface of the door.
