Install the HPSOV


 S 424-065
 (1) Do these steps to install the band clamp on the valve actuator:
 NOTE: The HPSOV may need to be changed using the Hamilton
____ Sundstrand Service Bulletin HS-SB 36-183. The Hamilton Sundstrand service bulletin changes the insulation cover and the heat shield.
 (a)
Put the band clamp in its position on the actuator.

 (b)
Tighten the band clamp 30 to 40 inch-pounds

 (3.39 to 4.52 newton meters).

 (c)
Install a lockwire on the band clamp (AMM 20-11-28/401).

 (2)  S 434-016Install a new O-ring (7) on the union (6).
 (3)  S 644-048Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the union (6).
 (4)  S 434-047Install the union (6) in the HPSOV.
 (5)  S 434-049Install the elbow on the union (6).
 (6)  S 214-017Examine the used seals (5). (a) It is necessary to replace all seals that have damage.
 (7)  S 434-018Remove the duct covers.
 (8)  S 434-019Install the seals (5) in the duct flanges.
 (9)  S 424-020Install the HPSOV (1) between the duct flanges. (a) If you cannot easily install the HPSOV because it is too tight, loosen one of the duct sections on either side of the HPSOV (AMM 36-11-01/401).

 Install the two couplings (4) loosely.

 Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the elbow.

 Turn the HPSOV (1) until the elbow aligns with the actuator pressure tube.

 Connect the actuator pressure tube to the elbow.

 Do the steps that follow to tighten the couplings (4):


 NOTE: Make sure you align the joints of the duct and the HPSOV
____ correctly before you tighten the couplings. The duct and the HPSOV flanges will not automatically align themselves when you tighten the couplings. Do a check of the joints after you tighten the couplings.
 (a)  
Tighten the couplings (4) to 115-125 pound-inches (13-14 N.m).

 (b)  
Use a fiber hammer to lightly hit each coupling around its perimeter.

 (c)  
Continue the torque-hit procedure until three torque-hit cycles are completed.

 (d)  
Tighten the couplings (4) to 115-125 pound-inches (13-14 N.m).

 If it is necessary, tighten any loose duct sections (AMM 36-11-01/401).

 Connect the bonding jumper to the ground stud on the valve.

 Make sure that the resistance between the ground stud on the valve and the ground strap is less than 0.005 ohms (AMM 20-22-01/601)

 Install the wires at the correct position on the terminal block.

 (a)  
Install two washers and a nut at each terminal on the HPSOV terminal block (View D, Fig. 401).

 (b)  
Remove the tags from the wires.
