PNEUMATIC DUCT INSULATION - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains four tasks. The first task removes the insulation blankets from the APU pneumatic ducts in the aft cargo area. The second task installs the insulation blankets on the APU pneumatic ducts. The APU insulation blankets are located behind the sidewall linings in the aft cargo bay. The third task removes the duct insulation from the precooler inlet duct on the engine. The fourth task installs the duct insulation on the precooler inlet duct on the engine. You can see the engine insulation sections when you extend the thrust reverser. There are no insulation blankets installed on pneumatic ducts in the wing leading edge, air conditioning bay and wheel well.

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

WARNING: YOU MUST RELEASE THE PRESSURE IN THE PNEUMATIC DUCT BEFORE YOU
_______ REMOVE A PNEUMATIC SYSTEM COMPONENT. IF YOU DO NOT RELEASE THE PRESSURE, HOT HIGH PRESSURE AIR CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Release the pressure in the pneumatic system (AMM 36-00-00/201).

Remove the applicable sidewall lining (AMM 25-52-01/401).

Remove the Pneumatic Duct Insulation

WARNING:_______THE PNEUMATIC DUCTS CAN BE HOT. IF YOU DO NOT TOUCH THE DUCT INSULATION CORRECTLY, INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
(1)
Turn the duct insulation until you get access to the square knots in the tape.

Loosen and remove the square knots.
NOTE: If you cannot untie the square knots, you can use a knife

cut the tape.

(3) Remove the pneumatic duct insulation blanket.
