On airplanes without the APU pneumatic duct restraint installation, refer to SB 747-36A2087 for the applicable installation procedures.
(a)
Incorporation of service bulletin would involve the addition of two brackets on the forward side of the APU firewall, addition of a clamp assembly to APU pneumatic duct, and connection of two cables from the clamp assembly to the two brackets on the APU firewall.
(b)
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airworthiness Directive AD 92-04-05, Amendment 39-8176, is related to this service bulletin.

Check the vertical and horizontal restraint cable for signs of unacceptable wear or damage.
(a)
Replace the restraint cable, if there are unacceptable wear or damage found. 1) Install new restraint cable loosely on the pneumatic duct. 2) Install the necessary hardware accessories to connect cable
assembly to the cable restraint brackets.
(b)
Adjust the position of the restraint on the duct and make sure there is no load on the duct that is caused by the cable assemblies.
(c)
Adjust the slack in the cables as evenly as possible. 1) The upper cable should not contact the horizontal section of the duct when the cable is in the free static position.
2) The restraint assembly can be rotated to maximize the clearance between the upper cable and the horizontal section of the duct.
(d)
Torque the T-bolt for the duct restraint clamp assembly to not more than 20 pound-inch.
