(3) Test the FAMV operation.
NOTE:____There are two options for testing the FAMV. The first option (preferred) requires access to the Fan Air Temperature Sensor (FATS). The second option (not preferred) requires removal of the FAMV.
(a) If accessing the Fan Air Temperature Sensor (FATS), do these steps: 1) If the FATS does not have an access panel in the engine
pylon, do these steps to locate the Fan Air Temperature Sensor (FATS): a) Remove the fairing that is on the access panel for the
midlower forward strut.
b) Remove the skirt fairing which makes an overlap with the lower aft corner of the midlower forward strut fairing.
NOTE: To remove the skirt fairing, you must remove
____ approximately 50 screws.
c) Remove the access panel behind the skirt fairing to
locate the FATS. 2) Remove the air filter and spring from the FATS. 3) Put a very small amount of lubricant on the O-ring on the
PRSOV/FATS filter fitting. 4) Install the PRSOV fitting in the FATS filter cavity. 5) Remove the locking pin from the FAMV, and install the
actuator fitting in the locking pin port.
6) Connect one end of the supply pressure (red) hose to the supply port on the test box and the other end to the actuator fitting on the FAMV.
7) Connect one end of the regulated pressure (yellow) hose to the regulated port on the test box and the other end to the PRSOV/FATS filter fitting on the FATS.

8) Increase the supply pressure to 20 psig.
9) Slowly increase the regulated pressure to 15 psig.
10) Make sure the FAMV is fully closed by 15 psig regulated
pressure. a) Make sure the FAMV is closed by visually inspecting the butterfly on the FAMV. 11) If the FAMV is not fully closed, do these steps: a) Using a soap solution, check the lines and connections for leaks. b) Decrease the regulated pressure and supply pressure to
zero. c) Remove the FAMV (AMM 36-12-04/401). d) Perform the health check procedure which tests the FAMV
after removing it from the airplane (AMM 36-00-22/501). e) If the FAMV fails the health check procedure, replace the FAMV (AMM 36-12-04/401). f) If the FAMV passes the health check procedure, replace the Fan Air Temperature Sensor (AMM 36-12-02/401). 12) Make sure the FAMV shows a CLOSE indication on the ECS maintenance page.
13) If the FAMV is closed, but does not show CLOSE on the ECS maintenance page, do a check of the position switch or wiring.
14) Decrease the regulated pressure to zero.
15) Decrease the supply pressure to zero.
If removing the FAMV from the airplane, do these steps:
1) Remove the FAMV from the airplane (AMM 36-12-04/401).
2) Connect the 45 degree fitting to the supply port.
3) Connect the 90 degree fitting to the temperature port.
4) Connect one end of the supply pressure (red) hose to the
