Install the Fan Air Modulating Valve

 (1)  
Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 (2)  S 644-039Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the pneumatic connectors.
 (3)  S 434-011If you install a new valve, do the steps that follow: (a) Install the elbow (6), union (7), and O-ring (8) in the TEMP port. (b) Install an O-ring (5), elbow (3), and jamnut (4) in the SUPPLY and cooling air ports. (c) Install the flange plate (14) on the valve inlet. (d) Install the ground stud (20) on the valve ground strap (AMM 20-11-15/401).
 (4)  S 424-012Install the fan air modulating valve on the precooler flange. (a) Make sure the pin on the valve flange is engaged with the notch on the precooler flange.
 NOTE:____ The notch is at the 5:30 position.
 (b)  Tighten the coupling (2) to 110-125 pound-inches (12-14 N.m).
 (5)  S 434-013Connect the bonding jumper to the ground stud (20).
 (6)  S 764-014Make sure that the resistance between the ground stud (20) and the valve ground strap is less than 0.005 ohms (AMM 20-22-01/601).
 (7)  S 434-015Connect the tubes to their ports on the fan air modulating valve.
 (8)  S 434-016Connect the wires to the terminal block. (a) Remove the tags.
 (9)  S 864-017For the applicable engine, remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: (a) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel 1) 6H32 AIR SUPPLY CONT ENG 1 2) 6H33 AIR SUPPLY CONT ENG 2 3) 6H34 AIR SUPPLY CONT ENG 3 4) 6H35 AIR SUPPLY CONT ENG 4

 If there is an air-driven hydraulic pump (ADP) in operation on this wing, stop the operation of the ADP.

 (a)  
Do not continue to the subsequent step for ten minutes or until the pneumatic ducts on the wing are cool.

 Apply the leak detector to the tube connections for the TEMP and SUPPLY port for the fan air modulating valve.

 (12)
 Pressurize the pneumatic system (AMM 36-00-00/201).

 Monitor the position of the fan air modulating valve.

 (a)  
Turn the manual override of the PRSOV to the OPEN position (AMM 36-11-04/201).


 NOTE: The manual override is on the left side of the strut.

 (b)  Make sure the fan air modulating valve goes to the CLOSED position.

 Examine the tube connections for the TEMP and SUPPLY ports.

 (a)  
Repair the tube connections if there is leakage.

 Put the PRSOV to the CLOSED position.

 Release the pressure in the pneumatic system (AMM 36-00-00/201).
