 PNEUMATIC SYSTEM - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains five tasks. The first task pressurizes the pneumatic system with a ground air source. The second task pressurizes the pneumatic system with the auxiliary power unit (APU). The third task pressurizes the pneumatic system with one or more of the engines. The fourth task pressurizes the pneumatic system upstream of the PRSOV. The fifth task releases the pressure in the pneumatic system.
 WARNING:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PRESSURIZE THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM. WHEN YOU PRESSURIZE THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, THESE PNEUMATIC OPERATED SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS CAN OPERATE:
 -AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
 -LEADING EDGE FLAPS
 -AIR DRIVEN HYDRAULIC DEMAND PUMPS
 -ENGINE START SYSTEM
 ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF ONE OR MORE OF THESE SYSTEMS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 WHEN YOU PRESSURIZE THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, YOU SUPPLY PRESSURE TO THESE SYSTEMS:
 -NACELLE ANTI-ICE
 -WING ANTI-ICE SYSTEM
 -POTABLE WATER PRESSURIZATION SYSTEM
 -LOWER CARGO COMPARTMENT HEATING SYSTEM
 IF YOU DO NOT ISOLATE THESE SYSTEMS, YOU CAN HAVE AN ACCIDENTAL LOSS OF PNEUMATIC PRESSURE.
 B.  It is necessary to pressurize the pneumatic system to operate a pneumatic operated system or component.

 2.  Pressurize the Pneumatic System with a Ground Air Source________________________________________________________

 (1)  
Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 S 862-003

 (2)  
Make sure that these circuit breakers are closed:

 (a)  
Main Power Distribution Panel, P6
 1) 6H20 L ISO VLV AIR SUPPLY PWR
 2) 6H24 R ISO VLV AIR SUPPLY PWR
 3) 6H32 AIR SUPPLY CONT ENG 1
 4) 6H33 AIR SUPPLY CONT ENG 2
 5) 6H34 AIR SUPPLY CONT ENG 3
 6) 6H35 AIR SUPPLY CONT ENG 4

 (3)  
Put the two wing ISLN switches, on the P5 overhead panel, to the OPEN position.

 (4)  
Make sure that the PACKS 1, 2, and 3 switches, on the P5 overhead panel, are in the OFF position.

Push the ECS switch on the EICAS display select panel.

 (6)  
Open the access door, 193 AL (AMM 06-09-03/201).

 WARNING: DO NOT SUPPLY MORE THAN 45 PSIG OF PRESSURE TO THE PNEUMATIC
_______ SYSTEM. IF YOU SUPPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT AND INJURIES TO PERSONNEL CAN OCCUR.

Start the ground air source and do not supply more than 45 psig.

The MANIFOLD DUCT PRESSURE is shown on the Primary EICAS display.
