F. Procedure

(1)
Remove the access door from the applicable engine strut
(AMM 54-62-00/201).

Remove the threaded plug (1, 2), preformed packing (3, 4), spring (5, 6), and air filter (7, 8) from the valve ports G1 and G2.
(a)
Remove the preformed packing (3, 4) from the threaded plug (1, 2) and discard the preformed packing (3, 4).

Replace the air filter (7) with a new air filter (7), or clean the air filter (7) per the Hamilton Standard CMM 36-11-12.

Replace the air filter (8) with a new air filter (8), or do these steps to clean the air filter (8):
(a)
Blow clean, dry, filtered air (at less than 25 psi) into the air filter (8) to remove the particles which have collected in the air filter mesh.
(b)
Make sure that the filter flange is flat, and that the air filter mesh is not damaged. 1) Replace the air filter (8), if it is damaged.
(c)
Clean the air filter (8) with solvent, if it is dirty.
NOTE: Fingerprints will contaminate the filter.

(d) Blow clean, dry, filtered air (at less than 25 psi) into the air filter (8) to fully dry the filter.

(5) Install the air filter (7, 8) into the valve ports G1 and G2.
NOTE: The flanged end of the filter must be against the valve port.
____ The valve port G1 is for the air filter (7).

Install the spring (5, 6) in the valve ports G1 and G2.

Apply the lubricant, DC44, to a new preformed packing (3, 4), then install the preformed packing (3, 4) to the threaded plug (1, 2).

(8) S 423-012Apply the thread lubricant, Mo-Lith No. 2, to the threads of the threaded plug (1, 2), then install the threaded plug (1, 2) in the valve ports G1 and G2.
(9) S 423-013Tighten each threaded plug (1, 2) to 60-70 pound-inches (6.8-8.0 N.m), and install lockwire.

CAUTION: TOOLS, LOOSE MATERIAL, AND DEBRIS IN STRUT CAVITIES MAY BLOCK
_______ STRUT DRAINS, AND CAUSE THE DRAIN SYSTEM TO BE INEFFECTIVE.

Make sure that all tools and loose material are removed, and the strut cavities are free of debris before you install the access door.
