Deactivate the Fan Air Modulating Valve

(1)
Remove the positioning screw from the actuator housing.
(a)
Remove the O-ring.
1) Discard the O-ring.
(b)
Do not disconnect the retaining cable from the positioning screw.

(2)
Turn the locking crank to the 45° position.

(3)
Install the positioning screw in the locking crank until it is engaged with the switch bracket.
NOTE: This will lock the valve in the 45° position.

(1) Do the deactivation procedure for the thrust reverser for ground maintenance (Ref 78-31-00/201).

Activate the Fan Air Modulating Valve

(1) Remove the positioning screw from the locking crank.
NOTE:____The valve is spring-loaded to the OPEN position. It can be necessary to apply a torque to the locking crank to the CLOSED position to make the removal of the positioning screw easier.

Install a new O-ring on the positioning screw.

Use the antiseize compound to lubricate the threads of the
positioning screw.

Install the positioning screw in the port of the actuator housing.
