(1) Do a check on the surfaces that contact for permitted wear (Ref 32-11-31).

CAUTION: REMOVE UNWANTED MASTINOX FROM SURFACES WHICH WILL BE
_______ LUBRICATED. IF YOU APPLY MASTINOX TO JOINTS THAT TURN, FAILURE OF THE LANDING GEAR TO EXTEND OR RETRACT CAN OCCUR.
(2) Clean and lightly lubricate all bolts, washers, and bushings with grease immediately before installation.
NOTE: Apply a layer of Mastinox 6856K to parts which are not
____ lubricated with grease after installation.
NOTE: Apply a layer of MIL-PRF-23827, or the preferred grease BMS
____ 3-33 to parts which are lubricated with grease after installation (AMM 12-20-00/301).

(3) Set the upper drag strut (3) above the upper attachment (4) with the locking flat inboard.
NOTE: If it is necessary, adjust the bearing assembly (3) to

align with the drag strut attachment.

CAUTION: WHEN THE UPPER ATTACH BOLT (2) IS INSTALLED, MAKE SURE THAT IT
_______ IS THE SAME BOLT THAT WAS REMOVED DURING THE REMOVAL TASK. IF THE ATTACH BOLT (2) IS REPLACED, MAKE SURE THAT THE REPLACEMENT BOLT HAS THE SAME PART NUMBER AS THE ONE THAT WAS REMOVED. THE DRAG STRUT UPPER ATTACH BOLT (2) IS A STRUCTURAL FUSE. IT MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE SAME LOCATION FROM WHICH IT WAS REMOVED TO KEEP THE REAR SPAR STRUCTURALLY CORRECT.

Install the upper attach bolt (2) with the head inboard.

Install the washer and nut.

Tighten the nut hand tight.

If necessary, loosen the nut to line up the nearest slot with the cotter pin hole.

Lock the nut with a cotter pin.

Set the upper drag strut (3) in the lower drag strut fork (10).

Align the holes of the upper drag strut (3) and the lower drag strut fork (10).

Install the lower attachment bolt (13) with the head end inboard on the right main gear and the head end outboard on the left main gear.

Add the washer and nut.

Tighten the nut hand tight.
