Airplane in AIR position, move the sensor on the mounting bracket up and down until you get the correct clearance as shown on Fig. 501 (between the sensor face and the target).

 (c)  
Airplane in Ground position, move the sensor on the mounting bracket forward and aft until you get the correct clearance as shown on Fig. 501 (between the sensor face and the target).

 (d)  
Tighten the mounting bolts.

Do a check of the sensor operation:

 (a)  
Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

 (b)  
Make sure all the circuit breakers for the landing gear system are closed on the P6 panel.

 (c)  
Make sure the test lights for AIR and GROUND SENSING on the E-11 shelf are off.

 (d)  
Put a deactuator between the ground safety sensor and its target.

 (e)  
Make sure the GROUND SENSING light on the E11 shelf comes on.

 (f)  
Remove the deactuator.

Remove the pressure from the shock strut for the right main gear:


 WARNING: DO NOT LOOSEN THE VALVE BODY UNLESS THE SHOCK STRUT IS
_______ FULLY DEFLATED. AIR PRESSURE CAN BLOW THE VALVE BODY OUT, AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (a)  
Remove the valve cap from the charging valve.

 (b)  
Loosen the air release nut, one or two turns, to deflate the shock strut.

 D.  Test of the Safety Sensors (Fig. 501)

 (1)
Put the control lever for the landing gear in the DN position.

Put the axle jack below the right main gear.

Slowly compress the shock strut with the axle jack until the AIR SENSING light on the E-11 shelf goes off.


 NOTE: It will be necessary to measure the distance that you
____ compress the shock strut from the fully extended position.
 (a)  
Make sure the GROUND SENSING light on the E-11 shelf stays on.

 (b)  
Try to move the control lever for the landing gear to the UP position.
