 1)  Make sure that you cannot move the control lever to the UP position.
 (c)  
Operate the manual override trigger and move the control lever to the UP position.

 (d)  
Move the control lever to the DN position.

Slowly compress the shock strut with the axle jack until the GROUND SENSING light goes off.

 (a)  
The GROUND SENSING light must go off by the time the shock strut is compressed a distance of 5.0 inches (from its fully extended position).

Slowly lower the right shock strut until it is a distance of 1.75 inches from its fully extended position.

 (a)  
Try to move the control lever for the landing gear to the UP position.


 NOTE: Do not use the manual override trigger.

 (6)  Slowly lower the right shock strut to a distance of 0.50 inch from its fully extended position.
 NOTE: Look at the lights on the E-11 shelf while the shock strut is

 lowered.

 (a)  
Make sure the GROUND SENSING light comes on before THE AIR SENSING light.

 (b)  
Make sure the two lights come before the shock strut is 0.50 inch from its fully extended position.

 (c)  
Make sure you can move the control lever to the UP position.


 NOTE: Do not use the manual override trigger.

 A.  This procedure has two tasks. One task is the removal of the nose landing gear safety sensor (referred to as safety sensor). The other is the installation of the safety sensor.

 S 864-002
 WARNING: MAKE SURE ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE AWAY FROM LEADING EDGE
_______ SLATS. THE SLATS CAN MOVE WHEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS ARE OPENED AND THE SAFETY LOCKS ARE NOT INSTALLED. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Open all the circuit breakers on the landing gear circuit breaker panel (P6-2).

 (2)  
Make sure ground lock assemblies are installed in all the landing gear (Ref 32-00-01).

Disconnect the sensor wires:

 (a)  
Find the wire splices SP3168 and SP3166 inside the pressure seal, at the aft, right corner of the wheel well.

 (b)  
Make a note of the splice number and the wire colors for the sensor installation. 1) Open the splices and disconnect the wires.
