Procedure to Install the Main Landing Gear
NOTE: Apply a layer of Mastinox 6856K to parts which are not lubricated
____ with grease after installation (AMM 12-21-11/301).
NOTE: Apply a layer of MIL-PRF-23827 grease, or the preferred grease
____ BMS 3-33 to parts which are lubricated with grease after installation (AMM 12-20-00/301).

(1) With the airplane still jacked to the same height as when you removed the landing gear, prepare a landing gear assembly for installation.
NOTE: A landing gear assembly includes a shock strut, two brake
____ units, two tire and wheel assemblies, upper and lower torsion links, proximity switch sensors, drag strut, trunnion link, hydraulic lines, electrical harness, and clamps. A teleflex cable for the ground spoiler is installed on the right landing gear.

Install the aft trunnion bearing in the support beam (Fig. 408).
(a)
Make sure the external surface of the bushing in the beam is fully clean.
(b)
Apply a sealant around the edge of the bushing on the front and the rear sides of the beam.
(c)
From the front side, carefully install the aft trunnion bearing

in the main landing gear support beam (Fig. 408).
NOTE: The blank spline on bearing must align with the mating
____ spline in the bearing retainer (9). The bearing retainer is attached to the rear side of the support beam.
(d)
Apply a sealant around the edges of the bearing on both sides of the main landing gear suport beam.
(e)
Apply BMS 3-28 antiseize compound to the threads of the bearing retainer nut (3).

Install the bearing retainer nut (3) and tighten it to 4500 - 7000 pound-inches lube torque with the torque wrench adapter.
(g)
Install the bearing retainer lock (2).
(h)
Install the retainer nut lockbolts (1). 1) Tighten the retainer nutlock bolts (1) to the standard
torque.
2) Install the lockwire.
(i)
ON AIRPLANES WITH A GREASE SEAL; install the grease seal (10) on the bushing flange from the front side of the main landing gear support beam.

Assemble the forward trunnion bearing and the forward trunnion link (Fig. 407).

Assemble the forward trunnion bearing and the forward trunnion link (Fig. 407).
NOTE: The forward trunnion link is a part of the main landing

gear shock strut which was removed.
(a)
Lubricate the bearing assembly (3) and the fasteners with grease before the installation.
(b)
Put the bearing assembly (3) in position on the trunnion link (9).
(c)
Install the key washer (1).
NOTE: Make sure the keys on the trunnion link and the washer
____
are fully engaged.
CAUTION: THE SAME FUSE BOLT (7) OR A REPLACEMENT BOLT WITH THE SAME PART
_______ NUMBER AS THE BOLT THAT WAS REMOVED MUST BE INSTALLED. THE BOLT (7) IS A STRUCUTRAL FUSE THAT MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE SAME LOCATION. THE INSTALLATION OF THE INCORRECT BOLT CAN CAUSE THE FUEL TANK TO RUPTURE IF THE LANDING GEAR BREAKS AWAY.
