MAIN LANDING GEAR WHEEL WELL BLADE TYPE SEAL - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of the blade type seal of the wheel well on the main landing gear.
(2)
The installation of the blade type seal of the wheel well on the main landing gear.
B.
You can replace the seal segments one by one , in groups or all at the same time. If you replace all the seal segments, install the retainer in the same position from were you remove them. Each seal segment and seal retainer segment was made to install correctly on the given area.

Prepare for the Procedure
S 214-002
(1)
Install the ground locks in all landing gear (AMM 32-00-01/201).

Procedure
S 024-003
(1)
Remove the bolts from the upper and the lower seal retainer that attach the seal segment (or segments) you will remove.
S 034-004
(2)
Loosen a large quantity of bolts adjacent to the segment (or segments) you will remove.
NOTE: Loose bolts will let the upper and lower seal retainers
____ to be apart for the easy removal of the seal segment.
S 024-005
(3) Push the upper and the lower seal retainer apart and remove the seal segment (or segments).

B. Procedure
S 424-007
(1)
Put the seal segment (or segments) between the upper and the lower seal retainers.
S 824-008
(2)
Align the bolt holes in the seal segment with the bolt holes in the upper and lower retainers.
S 424-009
(3)
Install the bolts that attach the seal segment (or segments) to the upper and lower seal retainers.
