 (b)  Do a check on the condition of the bearing assembly as follows:
 1)  A minimum of five rivets must be installed with no signs of damage (deformed, cracked heads, sheared) and up to three rivets are permitted to be gone.
 2)  A minimum of four rivets must be installed with no signs of damage (deformed, cracked heads, sheared) and up to four rivet heads are permitted to be gone.
 3)  A minimum of three rivets must be installed with no signs of damage (deformed, cracked heads, sheared) and up to five rivet heads can show signs of damage, with up to two of the five rivets or rivet heads are permitted to be gone.
 (c)  
If the bearing assembly is in one of the above conditions, rework or replace the bearing assembly at the first maintenance opportunity but not more than 2000 flight cycles (OHM 32-16-31).

 (d)  
If the condition of the bearing assembly is less than the outlined above, do the inspection again at 920 flight cycle intervals. 1) Continue this inspection interval until you replace or

 rework the bearing assembly.

 (e)  
If all the rivets are installed, do the inspection again at subsequent 4600 flight cycle intervals.

 (2)  
Do the steps that follows if it is necessary to examine the clearance of the forward trunnion bearing.

 S 226-004

 (3)  
Examine the vertical clearance of the forward trunnion bearing for the main landing gear.

 (a)  
Attach the dial indicator to the rear spar structure near the forward trunnion bearing to measure the vertical clearance.

 (b)  
Apply the force at the wheel to push the landing gear forward as far as it will go.

 (c)  
Set the dial indicator with the trunnion as near as possible to the forward trunnion bearing.

 (d)  
Adjust the dial indicator to read zero.

 (e)  
Push and pull at the wheel to move the landing gear forward and aft.

 (f)  
Read the bearing clearance on the dial indicator.

 (g)  
If the clearance is larger than 0.030 inch for shrink fit bearing assemblies, or 0.050 inch for threaded bearing assemblies, examine the worn part limits (see Fig. 601).

 (h)  
Replace the parts if it is necessary.

 (4)  
Examine the horizontal clearance of the forward trunnion bearing for the main landing gear.

 (a)  
Attach the dial indicator to the rear spar structure near the forward trunnion bearing to measure the horizontal clearance.
