 MAIN GEAR SHOCK STRUT - APPROVED REPAIRS

 1.  General_______
 A. This subject has two tasks.
 (1)  
The first task replaces the active inner cylinder seals with the spare seals kept on the shock strut.

 (2)  
The second task has two parts:

 (a)  
To replace the active inner cylinder seals with the spare seals kept on the shock strut

 (b)  
To install more seals on the shock strut after all the spare seals have been used.

 B.
Spare seals are kept in grooves in the shock strut lower bearing.

 (1)  
In the first groove is a T-seal (dynamic), and in the other, two O-rings (static seal).

 (2)  
The spare seals permit active seals to be replaced without shock strut inner cylinder removal.

 (3)  
When you install the last spare seal, the subsequent seal replacement requires the disassembly of the shock strut.

Ground Lock Assembly (AMM 32-00-01/201)

Gland nut wrench - F80033-1

Standard Tools and Equipment

 (1)  
Dry air or nitrogen bottle capable of 2500 psi for servicing shock strut

 (2)  
Plastic tool for removing O-rings

 (3)  
Thin strip of metal to use to protect the cylinder surface material when cutting seals

 (4)  
Drip tray

 (5)  
Clean pieces of white cloth, new or laundered, containing less than 0.75% oil and free of silicone (Cloth padding to use to prevent damage to shock strut, when gland nut is unscrewed)
