 THE MAIN LANDING GEAR SUPPORT BEAM TO TOUCH THE SHOCK STRUT.
 MAKE SURE THAT THE LOWER FLANGE OF THE MAIN LANDING GEAR
 SUPPORT BEAM DOES NOT TOUCH THE SHOCK STRUT WHEN YOU TIGHTEN
 THE FUSE NUT.
 (d)  Tighten the fuse nut (6) to 1000 - 1200 pound-inches lube
 torque as necessary to align the lockbolt holes.
 (e)  Install the washers, the lockbolt (5), and the lockwire.
 (f)  Install the seal ring (11).
 (g)  ON AIRPLANES WITH A GREASE RESERVOIR;
 Install the grease reservoir (4).
 1) Tighten to 1200 - 1800 pound-inches lube torque.
 2) Install the lockwire.
 (h)  ON AIRPLANES WITH A GREASE RESERVOIR;
 Lubricate the aft trunnion bearing with grease until the grease
 reservoir is full.
 (i)  ON AIRPLANES WITH A GREASE SEAL;
 lubricate the aft trunnion bearing with grease until the grease
 seal is full.
 (j)  Apply the sealant around the edge of the bearing retainer (9)
 and the bearing retainer nut (3).

 (8)  
Put the forward trunnion link in position on the shock strut (Stage 3, Fig. 409).

 (a)  
Remove the strap from the forward trunnion link (9).

 (b)  
Align the lugs of the trunnion link (9) with the lugs on the shock strut (3), (Fig. 406).

 (c)  
Hit the lugs of the trunnion link lightly to align them with the lugs of the shock strut.


 NOTE: Do not install the trunnion link pin (9)

 (9)  
Connect the drag strut (4) to the forward trunnion link (9), (Fig. 407).

 (a)  
Remove the strap from the drag strut and the shock strut (Stage 2, Fig. 409).

 (b)  
Align the upper end of the drag strut (4) with the lug on the forward trunnion link (9), (Fig. 407).


 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE SAME UPPER DRAG STRUT
_______ BOLT (5) OR INSTALL A REPLACEMENT BOLT WITH THE SAME PART NUMBER OF THE BOLT THAT YOU REMOVED. THE UPPER DRAG STRUT BOLT IS A STRUCTURAL FUSE THAT MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE SAME LOCATION TO KEEP THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE REAR SPAR. THE INSTALLATION OF THE INCORRECT BOLT CAN CAUSE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE IF THE LANDING GEAR BREAKS AWAY.
 (c)  Install the drag strut upper bolt (5) with the head on the inboard side. 1) Install the washer and the nut. 2) Tighten the nut by hand. 3) If it is necessary, loosen the nut to align the nearest
 castellation with the cotter pin hole in the bolt. 4) Install the cotter pin.

 CAUTION: REMOVE UNWANTED MASTINOX FROM SURFACES WHICH WILL BE
_______ LUBRICATED. IF YOU APPLY MASTINOX TO JOINTS THAT TURN, FAILURE OF THE LANDING GEAR TO EXTEND OR RETRACT CAN OCCUR.
 (10) Apply mastinox 6856K to the non-lubicated outer surfaces of the forward trunnion link before you connect the trunnion link to the shock strut (AMM 12-21-11/301).

 Apply a layer of grease to the lubricated surfaces common to the lugs of the forward trunnion link, the lugs of the shock strut, and the actuator walking beam arm.

 Connect the forward trunnion link to the shock strut (Stage 4, Fig. 409).


 (a)  Use a minimum of three persons to hold the landing gear
