If the clearance is less than .005 inch (0.127 mm), do these steps.
(a)
Make sure the apex nut is tightened to 50-150 pound-inches (AMM 32-11-81/501).
NOTE: It is important that the head of the damper piston is
____ within the dimensions before you tighten the apex nut, (AMM 32-11-81/501).
(b) Examine the minimum dimension between the outside faces of the apex thrust washer, refer to flagnote 8 (AMM 32-11-51/601). 1) If the dimension is more than 2.700 inches (68.58 mm), the
apex joint inspection is completed.
2) If the dimension is less than 2.700 inches (68.58 mm), disconnect the apex joint of the torsion links (AMM 32-11-51/401). a) If necessary, replace worn apex thrust washers or apex
bushings of the lower torsion link, refer to flagnote 9 (AMM 32-11-51/601). b) Connect the apex joint of the torsion links (AMM 32-11-51/401). c) Tighten the apex nut to 50-150 pound-inches (AMM 32-11-81/501).
NOTE: It is important that the head of the damper

(c) Examine the 2.700 inches (68.58 mm) minimum dimension again per the step above.

(a)
Examine the condition of the apex thrust washers and the apex bushings for wear, fractures or cracks.
(b)
If necessary replace worn, fractured or cracked apex bushings or apex thrust washers, refer to flagnote 9 (AMM 32-11-51/601).
(c)
Connect the apex joint of the torsion links (AMM 32-11-51/401).
(d)
Tighten the apex nut to 50-150 pound-inches (AMM 32-11-81/501).

MAIN LANDING GEAR TRUNNION LINK - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks, one for the removal and one for the installation of the main landing gear trunnion link.
B. During the removal and installation of the main landing gear trunnion link, a minimum of three persons is necessary to move the landing gear into or out of position.
C. The instructions to remove and install the gear in this procedure do not include the usage of special dolly. A Main Landing Gear Dolly (Model 100C or Model 3010) is commercially available if desired. You can purchase the Model 100C from Ground Support Engineering, Inc., 2401 N.W. 33rd. Avenue, Miami, Florida 33142, Tel. No. (305) 635-5060, Fax. No.
(305) 638-0211. You can purchase the Model 3010 from Diversified Aerospace, Inc., Miami, Florida.

2. Main Landing Gear Trunnion Link Removal__________________________
A. Special Tools and Equipment
(1)
Socket Wrench, Main Landing Gear Trunnion Link - ST2580-202. Use to remove the bolt for the forward trunnion bearing.
(2)
Spanner Wrench, Main Gear Forward Trunnion Bearing - 7ME65-73761-1. Use to remove forward trunnion bearing assembly from landing gear beam, and to tighten assembly in beam while installed on trunnion link.
(3)
Spanner Wrench, Main Landing Gear Trunnion Bearing - F80018-1. Use on 737-300/500 airplanes to remove the main landing gear forward trunnion bearing and bearing nut.
