 (3)  S 868-032Operate brakes eight times to remove pressure from the brake accumulator.
 (4)  S 868-033Open all landing gear circuit breakers, on panel P6, and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags.

 WARNING: DO NOT LOOSEN VALVE BODY UNLESS SHOCK STRUT IS FULLY
_______ DEFLATED. AIR PRESSURE CAN BLOW THE VALVE BODY OUT, AND CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 THE CHARGING VALVE MUST REMAIN OPEN. INTERNAL PRESSURE CAN BLOW OUT THE GLAND NUT AND INJURE PERSONS.
 A DESCENDING AIRPLANE CAN INJURE PERSONS AND DAMAGE EQUIPMENT.
 (5)  Remove the valve cap from the charging valve at top of shock strut to cause the shock strut to deflate. Loosen the outer hexnut two turns maximum.
 NOTE: Fluid in the shock strut will start foaming immediately as
____ its pressure is reduced to ambient. Deflate the shock strut slowly to prevent loss of fluid through the air valve.

Put a container under the shock strut.

Remove the check valve.

Drain the oil from the strut.

 G. Replace Inner Cylinder Seals

 (1)  Measure and write the distance the gland nut (12) extends below the outer cylinder (17), refer to Figure 801 (Sheet 2), view C.
 NOTE: The dimension you will get here will be compared with the

 dimension you will get in step G.(12)(g).

 (2)  Put the cloth padding around the shock strut inner cylinder below the gland nut (12) to prevent the sharp edge of the hole in the gland nut from damaging the inner cylinder if the gland nut is accidently allowed to slide down the inner cylinder when it is unscrewed from the outer cylinder.

 CAUTION: CLEAN ALL HYDRAULIC FLUID, FROM LEAKS, FROM THE TIRES

 IMMEDIATELY. THIS FLUID CAN DAMAGE THE TIRES.

Put a drip tray under the shock strut to catch hydraulic fluid when the gland nut is removed.

Remove the gland nut.

 (a)  
Remove gland nut lockplate (1) on aft side of shock strut.

 (b)  
Use gland nut wrench to unscrew gland nut and slide nut to bottom of inner cylinder.
