 (c)  
Attach the drag strut (4) to the shock strut with a line, (Stage 2, Fig. 405).
 (d)  
Mark and keep the drag strut upper bolt (5) for subsequent installation.
 NOTE: The bolt is identified by a yellow head.

 (e)  
Lift the airplane on jacks until the tires clear the ground so that the landing gear can move in the inboard direction (to retraction).
 (f)  
Lightly hit the end of the trunnion link with a lead hammer to move it upward to clear the shock strut lugs (Stage 2, Fig. 405).
 (g)  
Hold the trunnion link in position so that it does not touch the landing gear

 (7)  
Remove the Shock strut (13), (Fig. 408).
 (a)  
Get access to the aft trunnion bearing (12). 1) Remove the lockbolts (1) and the bearing retainer lock (2). 2) Remove the bearing retainer nut (3). 3) Remove the grease reservoir (4) and the seal ring (11). 4) Remove the lockbolt (5). 5) Loosen the fuse nut (6). 6) Remove the washer (7) and the key (8).
 (b)  
Use a minimum of three persons to lower the landing gear.
