C. Get Access
(1)
Make sure that the access platform is in position below the APU compartment.
(2)
Make sure that the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR are open (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3)
Make sure that the light SW 11LJ is set to the ON position.
4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Starter Motor (8KA) (Original Configuration P/N: 2000866-1/-2).
(1)
Lubricate the starter-motor drive shaft-splines and the clutch assembly internal-splines with the lubricant OILS (Material No. 03-002).
(2)
Apply a thin layer of lubricant OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new packing (9).
(3)
Install the packing (9) on the starter motor (8KA) (8).
(4)
Install the starter motor (8KA) (8) on the accessory drive gearbox. Make sure that the location pin is engaged correctly.
NOTE : If the splines are not aligned, do the steps (5) thru (7).

(5)
Remove the screws (10) and the cover (11) to get access to the starter motor drive shaft.
(6)
Put a wrench on the drive shaft and turn it counter-clockwise until the splines engage.
(7)
Push the starter motor to fully engage it in the accessory drive gearbox.
(8)
Attach the starter motor (8KA) (8) to the accessory drive gearbox with the V-clamp (7).
(9)
TORQUE the V-clamp (7) to 0.56 m.daN (49.55 lbf.in). CAUTION : REFER TO THE MATCH MARKS MADE DURING THE REMOVAL WHEN YOU
_______ CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL WIRES. INCORRECT CONNECTION OF THE WIRES WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
NOTE : Make sure that the terminal studs, nuts and washers are in
____ correct condition. Replace any item found in not correct condition
NOTE : If it is necessary, carefully pull the positive electrical
____ lead from C80 until you can attach the cable correctly.
NOTE : The positive electrical leads (25 and 6) must be directly in
____ conter with the starter motor copper strip, before the installation of the washer (4) and the nut (2).
(10)
Put the electrical leads (25) and (6) on the starter motor POSITIVE terminal and secure with washer (4) and locknut (2).
(11)
Put the electrical lead (5) on the starter motor NEGATIVE terminal and secure with washer (4) and locknut (2).
(12)
TORQUE the POS nut (2) to between 0.85 and 0.90 m.daN (75.22 and
79.64 lbf.in) and the NEG nut (2) to between 0.56 and 0.62 m.daN

B.
Installation of the Starter Motor (8KA) (Optional Configuration P/N: 2704506-1/-2).
(1)
Lubricate the starter-motor drive shaft-splines and the clutch assembly internal-splines with the lubricant OILS (Material No. 03-002).
(2)
Apply a thin layer of lubricant OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new packing (9).
(3)
Install the packing (9) on the starter motor (8KA) (14).
(4)
Install the starter motor (8KA) (14) on the accessory drive gearbox. Make sure the that location pin is engaged correctly.
NOTE : If the splines are not aligned, do the steps (5) thru (7).

(5)
Remove the cover (15) to get access to the starter motor drive shaft.
(6)
Put a wrench on the drive shaft and turn it counter-clockwise until the splines engage.
(7)
Push the starter motor to fully engage it in the accessory drive
gearbox.
(8)
Attach the starter motor (8KA) (14) to the accessory drive gearbox
with the V-clamp (7).
(9)
TORQUE the V-clamp (7) to 0.56 m.daN (49.55 lbf.in). CAUTION : REFER TO THE MATCH MARKS MADE DURING THE REMOVAL WHEN YOU
