4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Regulating Gearbox Valve
(1)
Remove the blanking plugs.
(2)
Apply a thin layer of OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the O-rings (2),
(10) and (11).
(3)
Install the new O-ring (2), O-ring (10) and O-ring (11) on to the transfer tube (1).
(4)
Install the transfer tube (1) into the APU.
(5)
Install the adapter (3) on to the transfer tube (1) with the washers
(9) and bolts (8).
(6)
TORQUE the bolts (8) to 0.56 m.daN (49.55 lbf.in).
(7)
Install the gearbox regulating valve (7) with the washers (4) and the bolts (5).
(8)
TORQUE the bolts (5) to 0.56 m.daN (49.55 lbf.in).
(9)
Install the tube (6) on the gearbox regulating valve (7).
(10) TORQUE the tube (6) B-nut to between 5.31 and 6.22 m.daN (39.15 and
45.87 lbf.ft).

B. Installation of the Regulating Gearbox Valve (On APU's with series 5/ change 105 on the Mod. Plate). (Ref. Fig. 402/TASK 49-26-53-991-002)
(1)
Remove the blank plugs installed on tube ends (1) and (3).
(2)
Remove the blank plugs installed on the new valve (2).
(3)
Position the valve (2) between tubes (1) and (3).
(4)
Connect the B-nuts (1) and (3).
(5)
Hold the valve (2) firmly with a second wrench to prevent torque transfer.
(6)
TORQUE the B-nut (1) to between 5.31 and 6.22 m.daN (39.15 and 45.87 lbf.ft)
(7)
TORQUE the B-nut (3) to between 2.43 and 3.16 m.daN (17.92 and 23.30 lbf.ft)

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD.

D. Close the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR. Subtask 49-26-53-710-050
E. Operate the APU for five minutes. (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-003) Subtask 49-26-53-010-052
F. Open the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR. Subtask 49-26-53-790-050
G. Examine the gearbox pressure-regulator valve area for oil leaks.
NOTE : No leaks are permitted.

Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2)
Close the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(3)
Remove the access platform(s). Subtask 49-26-53-865-054
B.
Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
