On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw is OFF.

Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(4)
Make sure that there is a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(5)
Make sure that the access platform is in position below the APU compartment.
(6)
Make sure that the APU access doors are open (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(7)
Make sure that the LIGHT control switch 11LJ is set to the ON position.

4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Starter Motor
(1)
Lubricate the starter-motor drive shaft-splines and the clutch assembly internal-splines with the lubricant OILS (Material No. 03-002).
(2)
Apply a thin layer of OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new packing (14).
(3)
Install the packing (14) on the starter motor (10).
(4)
Remove the blanking cover from the gearbox flange.
(5)
Install the starter motor (10) in the gearbox. NOTE : Make sure that the location pin (11) is engaged correctly.

(6)
Push the starter motor to fully engage it in the accessory drive gearbox.
(7)
Attach the starter motor (10) to the gearbox with the V-clamp (15).
(8)
TORQUE the V-clamp (15) to 0.56 m.daN (49.55 lbf.in).
(9)
Electrical Connection CAUTION : REFER TO THE MATCH MARKS MADE DURING THE REMOVAL WHEN YOU
_______ CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL WIRES. INCORRECT CONNECTION OF THE WIRES WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
NOTE : Make sure that the terminal studs, nuts and washers are in
____ correct condition. Replace any item found in not correct condition.

CES NOTE : If it is necessary, carefully pull the positive electrical
____ lead from C80 until you can attach the cable correctly.
NOTE : The positive electrical leads (5 and 16) must be directly in
____ contact with the starter motor copper strip, before the installation of the washer (7) and the nut (6).
(a)
Connect the electrical leads (2), (5) and (16) with the washers
(4) and (7) and the locknuts (3) and (6) on the starter motor terminals.
(b)
TORQUE the nut (3) to between 0.56 and 0.62 m.daN (49.55 and
54.86 lbf.in).
(c)
TORQUE the nut (6) to between 0.85 and 0.90 m.daN (75.22 and
79.64 lbf.in).

Push the rubber cover (1) into position over the terminals. Subtask 49-42-51-720-052
B.
Do a functional check of the starter motor clutch
(1)
Remove the starter motor drive shaft end cover (9).
(2)
Slowly rotate the starter drive shaft in a counterclockwise direction with a socket spanner, until the clutch engages.
(3)
Slowly rotate the starter drive shaft in a clockwise direction until the clutch disengages.
(4)
Install the starter motor drive shaft end cover. NOTE : Replace the starter motor clutch if the starter motor does not
____ disengage (Ref. TASK 49-42-52-000-003) (Ref. TASK 49-42-52-400-003).
