B. Test the Starter Motor
(1)
Get access to the Starter Motor Drive Shaft.
(Ref. Fig. 201/TASK 49-42-51-991-006)
(2)
Remove the drive shaft cover (9).
(3)
Turn the starter motor manual drive shaft with a wrench in the direction of the arrow embossed on the starter body, make sure that the clutch engages.
NOTE : The starter motor clutch engages correctly if:

-
it engages immediately,
-
it does not rub,
-
it does not make unusual noise.
(4) Turn the starter motor manual drive shaft with a wrench against the direction of the arrow embossed on the starter body, make sure that the clutch disengages.
NOTE : The starter motor clutch disengages correctly if:
____ -it disengages immediately,
-the starter motor drive shaft can be turned freely against the direction of the arrow,
-
it does not rub,
-
it does not make unusual noise.
(5)
If the clutch does not engage/disengage correctly, replace the starter motor clutch (Ref. TASK 49-42-52-000-003) and (Ref. TASK 49-42-52-400-003).
(6)
Start and operate the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-008).
(7)
Listen for any unusual noises after the starter motor has disengaged at 50% APU speed.
(8)
Examine the starter motor area for oil leaks.
NOTE : No leaks are permitted.

Install the drive shaft end the cover (9).
(2)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(3)
Set the LIGHT control SW 11LJ to the off position.
(4)
Close the APU access doors 316AR, 315AL (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(5)
Remove the access platform(s). Subtask 49-42-51-865-076
B.
Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD

(1)
Pressurize the reservoirs of the hydraulic systems.

(2)
De-energize the ground service network
