(1)
Put the access platform in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2)
Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3)
Set the LIGHT control SW 11LJ to the ON position.
4. Procedure

A. Inspection of the Starter Motor and Clutch Assembly.
(1)
Remove the starter motor (Ref. TASK 49-42-51-000-004).
(2)
Do a visual check of the starter motor. Make sure that the external condition of the starter motor is correct.
(3)
Do a visual check of the starter motor clutch assembly. Make sure that the internal splines are satisfactory. Replace the clutch assembly if the internal splines have a crack, are broken or missing (Ref. TASK 49-42-52-000-003) (Ref. TASK 49-42-52-400-003).
(4)
Do a visual check of the starter motor drive shaft. Make sure that the external splines are satisfactory. Replace the starter motor if the splines are cracked, broken or missing .
(5)
Do a visual check of the starter motor/accessory drive gearbox mating faces.

(6) Install the starter motor (Ref. TASK 49-42-51-400-004).

(3)
Close the APU access doors 316AR, 315AL (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).

Remove the access platform(s). Subtask 49-42-51-865-072

Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD.
