 A. Installation of the Igniter Plug(s). NOTE : There are two igniter plugs mounted in the combustion casing, one
____ at 270 degrees and one at 120 degrees, viewed from the rear. The installation procedure is the same for both.
 (1)
 Apply COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-014) to the threads of the igniter plug(s) (2).

 (2)
 Install the igniter plug(s) (2) in the combustor assembly.

 (3)
 TORQUE the igniter plug(s) to between 111 and 132 lbf.in (1.25 and

 1.49 m.daN).

 (4)
 Make sure that the electrical connectors are clean and in the correct condition.

 (5)
 Connect the igniter cable(s) (1) to the igniter plug(s) (2).

 (6)
 TORQUE the igniter cable(s) to between 26 and 32 lbf.in (0.29 and


 0.36 m.daN).
 (7)
 Connect the LT connector P10 to the ignition exciter. Subtask 49-41-41-865-057

 B.
 Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD.

 C. Do the self-test of the ECB (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-710-005).

 A. Close Access
 (1)
 Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.

 (2)
 Close the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).

 (3)
 Remove the access platform(s).

 (4)
 Remove the warning notice(s).

 A. Remove the igniter plug (8031KM) (Ref. TASK 49-41-41-000-001).

 A. Inspect the Igniter Plug (8031KM)
 NOTE : There is only one igniter plug installed in this APU.

 (1)
 Visually examine the igniter plug for broken or missing parts. Shake the igniter plug for signs of loose parts. Replace the igniter plug, if necessary.

 (2)
 Examine the igniter plug for internal wear and damage.

 (3)
 Examine the center electrode and the outer shell for erosion. If the distance between the edge of the electrode and the inside of the uneroded edge of the ground shell tip exceeds 2.3 mm (0.09 in.), replace the igniter plug. Constant erosion on the electrode and the outer shell is permitted.

 (4)
 Examine the ceramic insulator for cracks or damaged area. Replace the igniter plug if the ceramic insulator is damaged.

 (5)
 Examine the outer shell for burned or melted metal. Replace the plug if metal is burned or melted.

 (6)
 Examine the mating flange of the igniter plug for a groove. Replace the igniter plug if it has a groove on one side which has a depth of

 0.77 mm (0.03 in.) or more.

 (7)
 Examine the igniter plug electrical connection. Replace the igniter plug if the electrical connection pin is bent or burned.

 (8)
 Examine the part of the igniter plug that has the thread for signs of distortion or damaged threads. Replace the igniter plug if the threads are damaged.
