A. Inspection of the Starter Motor (8KA) and Clutch Assembly (8033KM).
(1)
Remove the starter motor (8KA) (Ref. TASK 49-42-51-000-002).
(2)
Do a visual check of the starter motor. Make sure that the external condition of the starter motor is correct.
(3)
Do a visual check of the starter motor drive shaft. Make sure that the external splines are satisfactory. Replace the starter motor if the splines are cracked, broken or missing (Ref. TASK 49-42-51-400-002).
(4)
Do a visual check of the starter motor clutch assembly (8033KM). Make sure that the internal splines are satisfactory. Replace the clutch assembly if the internal splines have a crack, are broken or missing (Ref. TASK 49-42-52-000-001) (Ref. TASK 49-42-52-400-001).
(5)
Do a visual check of the starter motor/accessory drive gearbox mating faces.
(6) Install the starter motor (8KA) (Ref. TASK 49-42-51-400-002).

Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2)
Set the LIGHT control switch 11LJ to the off position.
(3)
Close the APU access doors 316AR, 315AL (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).

Remove the access platform(s).
(5)
Remove the warning notice(s). Subtask 49-42-51-865-063

Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD.

Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
