(1)
Do this task: P3 Air Filter Element Removal (AMM 49-52-08/401).

(2)
Use the ultrasonic cleaner to clean the element for the P3 air filter.
(a)
Put the element in the carbon removing solvent for 30-60 minutes.

(b) Increase the temperature of the cleaning fluid to 118°F (48°C).
NOTE: The boiling point of the cleaning fluid is 117.6°F

(47.6°C).
(c)
Put the element in the hot cleaning fluid.
(d)
Flush the element in the opposite direction at a flow rate of 1.2-3.6 U.S. gallons (4.5-13.6 liters) for each minute at 100°F (38°C) and 30 psig (207 kPa).
(e)
Ultrasonic clean the element for 1-3 minutes at a minimum frequency of 25 kHz.
(f)
Turn the element 180 degrees.
(g)
Continue to flush the element in the oposite direction and ultrasonic clean the element for 1-3 minutes.
(h)
Make sure the cooling water in the water jacket is less than 80°F (27°C).
(i)
Hold the element in the cleaning fluid gas (below the water jacket level) for 1-5 minutes at 118°F (48°C).
NOTE: The condensation temperature of the gas is approximately
____
100°F (38°C).
(j)
Continue to flush the element in the opposite direction and ultrasonic clean the element for 1-3 minutes.
(k)
Drain the element above the water jacket level for 1-5 minutes.
(l)
Make sure the cooling system is on for a minimum of 30 minutes after the ultrasonic sump is off.
(m)
Dry the element with the air for 1-3 minutes.

Examine the element for lint particles.

Remove all of the lint particles with the air.
