Procedure


 S 027-006
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT LET THE IGNITER PLUG FALL FROM YOUR HANDS.
_______ IF THE IGNITER PLUG FALLS FROM YOUR HANDS, YOU MUST REPLACE THE IGNITER PLUG. INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE IGNITER PLUG CAN OCCUR.
 (1)  
Do this task: Igniter Plug Removal (AMM 49-41-04/401).

 S 117-003

 (2)  
Do these steps to clean the igniter plug:

 (a)  
Install a cap on the ignition cable end of the igniter plug to prevent contamination.

 (b)  
Clean the igniter plug with alcohol and a cloth.

 (c)  
Use the air source to dry the igniter plug.


 NOTE: It is recommended that you use a pressure of 60-90 psig
____ (414-620 kPa) of air or nitrogen to dry the igniter plug or to blow away loose material off the igniter plug.
 CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE HARD CARBON PARTICLES FROM THE
_______ ELECTRODE IN THE CENTER OF THE IGNITER PLUG. THESE HARD CARBON PARTICLES HELP THE IGNITER PLUG OPERATE CORRECTLY. DO NOT USE A HARD GRIT OR A STEEL BRUSH TO CLEAN THE IGNITER PLUG. AN ABRASIVE BRUSH CAN REMOVE SEMICONDUCTOR MATERIAL. THE REMOVAL OF HARD CARBON PARTICLES OR SEMICONDUCTOR MATERIAL CAN CAUSE THE IGNITER PLUG TO OPERATE INCORRECTLY AND DECREASE THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
 (d)  
Clean all the unwanted materials off the igniter plug with a brush or cloth.

 (e)  
Use the air source to blow away all the loose material off the igniter plug.

 (f)  
Remove the cap from the ignition cable end of the igniter plug.

 (3)  
Do this task: Igniter Plug Installation (AMM 49-41-04/401).

 IGNITION CABLE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 A.  This procedure has these tasks:

A removal of the ignition cable

 (2)  
An installation of the ignition cable.

 B.  
The two ignition cables are installed between the ignition exciter and two igniter plugs.
