(a)
Loosen the clamp (9) that attaches the flexible hose (10) to the breather adapter (1).
(b)
Remove the hose (10) from the breather adapter (1).
(c)
Remove the two nuts (8) and the washers (7) that attach the breather adapter (1) to the accessory gearbox (4).
(d)
Remove the breather adapter (1) and the transfer tube (2) at the same time.
(e)
Remove the transfer tube (2) from the breather adapter (1).
(f)
Remove the packings (5 and 6) from the breather adapter (1) and the transfer tube (2). 1) Discard the packings (5 and 6).

Remove the carbon seal (1) from the breather adapter (2) (Fig. 402):
(a)
Install the breather adapter (2) in the PWC41445 support.
(b)
Use the puller to remove the carbon seal (1) from the breather adapter (2). 1) Discard the seal (1).

CAUTION:_______BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE CARBON SEAL. A ROUGH MOVEMENT OF THE SEAL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEAL WHICH WILL CAUSE LEAKAGE.
CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE A SOLVENT TO CLEAN THE CARBON SEAL. A SOLVENT CAN CAN DECREASE THE CARBON QUANTITY OF THE SEAL. THIS CAN CAUSE CORROSION OF THE SEAL TO OCCUR MORE QUICKLY.
(1) Install the carbon seal (1) in the breather adapter (2) (Fig. 403):
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU EXAMINE THE CARBON SEAL. A DAMAGED SEAL CAN CAUSE LEAKAGE.
(a)
Visually examine the carbon seal (1) for cracks or damage. 1) If you find damage, replace the seal (1).
(b)
Put the carbon seal (1) fully into APU oil.
(c)
Move the carbon seal (1) in and out to make sure it move easily in the casing.

(d) Put the breather adapter (2) fully into APU oil for a minimum of 15 minutes.
