 B.  The duct assembly is referred to as the outer exhaust duct.
 C.  The exhaust duct assembly is removed through the exhaust duct opening in the rear of the fuselage. The exhaust duct is removed as an assembly. The acoustic lining and the inner exhaust duct are removed from the outer exhaust duct after the removal from the airplane.
 D.  The outer exhaust duct is connected to the exhaust outlet of the APU engine. You can get access to the outer exhaust duct through the APU access doors.

 (1)  
Make sure the APU control switch on the P5 panel is OFF and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P6 Main Power Supply Panel
 1) 6K18 APU ALTN CONT

 (b)  
P83 Panel, E8 Aft Equipment Center
 1) APU PRIMARY CONT

Open the APU access doors:

 (a)  
Open the latches on the APU access doors.

 (b)  
Open the APU access doors.

 (c)  
Engage the support rods for the APU access doors.

Remove the outer exhaust duct (6):

 (a)  
Disconnect the drain line (7) from the outer exhaust duct (6).

 (b)  
Hold the exhaust duct assembly.

 (c)  
Remove the V-band clamp (8) that connects the outer exhaust duct (6) to the APU.

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU SUFFICIENTLY HOLD THE EXHAUST DUCT ASSEMBLY.
_______ THE DUCT ASSEMBLY WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 95 POUNDS (43.1 KILOGRAMS). DAMAGE TO THE DUCT ASSEMBLY CAN OCCUR IF THE ASSEMBLY FALLS TO THE GROUND.
 (d)  
Move the exhaust duct assembly aft.

 (e)  
Remove the exhaust duct assembly from the airplane.

 (5)  
Remove the inner duct and the acoustic lining from the outer exhaust duct (6):

 (a)  
Remove the bolts (1), the washers (3 and 5), the bushings (2), and the nuts (4) that attach the inner duct to the outer duct.

 (b)  
Remove the inner duct and the acoustic lining from the outer exhaust duct (6).
