CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY.

Do these steps to install the oil filter element (2):
(a)
Install the oil filter element (2) and then the retainer ring
(1)
in the oil filter cover (4).

(b)
Lubricate the new packing (3) with a light coat of oil.
(c)
Install the packing (3) on the oil filter cover (4).
(d)
Install the oil filter cover (4) on the oil filter housing with the four washers (8) and four nuts (7). 1) Tighten the four nuts (7) to 75-85 inch-pounds (8.5-9.6
newton-meters).
(e)
Lubricate the new packing (5) with a light coat of oil.
(f)
Install the packing (5) on the plug (6).
(g)
Install the plug (6) in the oil filter cover (4).
1) Tighten the plug (6) to 65-75 inch-pounds (7.3-8.5 newton-meters).
(h)
Install the lockwire between the plug (6) and the hole on the oil filter cover (4).

Oil Filter Element Installation Test

(1)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
(a)
P6-2 Main Power Distribution Panel
1) 6K18, APU ALTN CONT
(b)
P83 Aft APU Equipment Control and Circuit Breaker Panel 1) APU PRIME CONT

Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU control switch on the P5 overhead panel.

Do the installation test for the oil filter element:
(a)
Do this task: APU Starting and Operation (AMM 49-11-00/201).
(b)
Operate the APU for a minimum of five minutes.
(c)
During the APU operation, examine the oil filter housing and oil filter cover for signs of oil leakage.
(d)
If you find oil leakage, then do these steps to repair the leakage: 1) Do this task: APU Usual Shutdown (AMM 49-11-00/201). 2) Attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag to the APU control switch on
the P5 overhead panel. 3) Repair the cause of the oil leakage. 4) Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU control switch
on the P5 overhead panel. 5) Do this task: APU Starting and Operation (AMM 49-11-00/201). 6) During the APU operation, examine the oil filter housing and oil filter cover for signs of oil leakage.

7) If you find oil leakage, do the leakage repair again.
(e) If it is not necessary to do other tasks, do this task: APU Usual Shutdown (AMM 49-11-00/201).

Make sure the APU oil system is full. To check the oil level, do this task: APU Oil Tank Replenishing (AMM 12-13-02/301).
